Eneco and Gate terminal sign multi-year agreement

Energy company Eneco has signed a multi-year agreement with Gate terminal for the yearly throughput of one billion cubic metres natural gas to Eneco’s end users (customers and power stations). The supply of gas from Gate terminal at Rotterdam-Maasvlakte, with Gasunie and Vopak as main shareholders, will start in September 2011 when the terminal will be fully operational. Eneco will deliver the liquefied natural gas (LNG) by ship to the LNG import terminal. The LNG will be stored at the tanks of Gate terminal and then regasified. The natural gas will be supplied through the Dutch transmission network to Eneco’s end users.

Branko Pokorny, managing director Gate terminal, is very satisfied that a leading energy company like Eneco is choosing for Gate terminal and by that for liquefied natural gas. “It emphasizes the importance of the open and flexible character of the terminal for our customers that enables this re-allocation of throughput capacity between our customers”, he said. Gate terminal is fully on track to start operations as of September 2011.
